Welcome to the North Carolina State Health Plan!

Our mission is to offer a diversified portfolio of quality health care products and services, developed with input from our members and customers, designed to improve affordability, access and choice and to foster better health.

More than 649,000 state employees, teachers, retirees, current and former lawmakers, state university and community college personnel, state hospital staff and their dependents are insured by the State Health Plan.

The State Health Plan also administers NC Health Choice, which provides health insurance to more than 127,000 uninsured children in North Carolina.

Through healthy living initiatives, such as NC HealthSmart, the State Health Plan seeks to empower members to make healthier lifestyle choices and to become partners in addressing their health care needs.
